Demo Script – Transient Interface Mockup

You just hopped off a train in Atlanta and found your way to a public computer terminal near Georgia Tech. You direct your browser to Transient’s web site. Your location is determined automatically through Google’s MyLocation Service (using Wi-Fi or IP information), and a customized Google map Applet is brought up with location sensitive information.

 

1. Mark the train you hopped off by selecting the “Mark Train” Tab
    a. navigate the map to the train tracks, and place your icon in the desired location
    b. choose the direction that the train was headed by dragging the arrow near your icon, or the compass in the “Mark Train” input tab
        (in future, mobile versions, a smartphone’s internal compass could be wired to this feature to situate one more directly to one’s surroundings)
    c. if desired, add a title and description
    d. if desired, “upload” a photo
    e. submit your post by hitting the “Go” button
    f. if desired, you can review your post by clicking its icon on the map

 

2. Browse the area for information pertinent to your night’s stay in atlanta
    a. click on data points on the left-hand side or directly clicking on the map.
    b. you can click the “view more shelter results” button to exclusively see
    b. rate some of these postings

 

You return to the library in the morning to hitch a ride out of town

 

3. (Optional) Leave information about the location where you stayed last night
    a. Choose the “mark shelter” tab and fill out the pertinent information
        AND/OR
    b. Choose the “tag location” tab and leave comments or warnings about specific locations
        AND/OR
    c. Rate already created shelter posts by clicking to give the post more or less stars

 

4. Prepare to go hitching
    a. Browse other hitching posts in the area
    b. Choose the “Hitch a Ride” tab
    c. Mark the direction to where you wish to travel, and your location is taken from the map
    d. if desired, add a title and description
    e. submit your post by hitting the “Go” button
    f. if desired, you can review your post by clicking its icon on the map
You leave the computer and continue your journey.
